Prison Ministry

Bless the Children volunteers in Honduras extend a helping hand to the El Progreso prisons.  This overcrowded prison houses some 360 inmates.  Medical care is provided by bringing in medical brigades each year, which give health care, special treatment, medication and supplies.  For nutritional support we provide large sacks of oranges on a regular basis.  We also supply equipment including computers, freezers and refrigerators. 

We feed the prisoners a nourishing celebratory holiday meal 3 times a year; at Easter, on Christmas and on one other unannounced occasion.  Most of the prisoners grew up in severe poverty and many were street children.
